Open to K-5TH Grade: STEAMCraft fun is coming to Camden Station! Does your kid love Minecraft? So do we! Join us March 15th as we host STEAMCraft, where students have to work together in teams to complete design challenges created within the sandbox game of Minecraft PE! Instead of going home early for early release, students will exercise the skills of  making, design, collaboration, creativity, and communication—all 21st century skills as outlined by the International Society of Technology in Education. No need for students to bring a device, as we have our own iPad classroom.

STEAMPunkEdu is excited to be invited to host a pop up class at Camden Station! STEAMPunkEdu is an educational organization that offers after school programs, STEAMPunk Saturdays and spring break and summer camps that focus on leveraging technology and the arts to address STEM subjects! Join STEAMPunksEdu at Camden Elementary for a 5 week Video Game Design class on Mondays, starting March 20th! STEAMPunksEdu teaches several game design classes that specialize in different aspects of gaming. This one focuses on, you guessed it, GAME MECHANICS! Students are guided through comic book quests and play to learn new concepts. As they learn about the mechanics that make a successful game, their learning is rewarded with tools to build and personalize their own game. Students play broken games they are asked to fix in order to gain an in depth understanding of what designs work, and what may not. They then apply this knowledge in a game design workshop. The best part is the fun doesn’t have to stop at the end of class! If you have a computer at home they can log in and continue to learn and build! Students’ final games are shared with the classroom community and played by peers! Class will NOT meet on April 3rd due to spring break.
